As we prepare to travel to beautiful New Orleans for our upcoming convention, we extend heartfelt wishes for safe and pleasant travels to every member making the journey. Whether you are traveling by plane, train, bus, automobile, or by pure determination and prayer, please take your time, remain alert, and make sure your travel plans are in order before leaving home.
Before you head out, take one final look at your suitcase and make sure you have everything you need. Double-check your identification, registration information, medications, chargers, comfortable shoes, required attire, notebooks, pens, business cards, and any materials needed for meetings or scheduled activities.
New Orleans is filled with history, culture, beautiful architecture, music, delicious food, and unforgettable sights. During your free time, take the opportunity to safely explore the city and enjoy the unique atmosphere that makes New Orleans so special. From the sounds of live music to the charm of the historic neighborhoods, there will be plenty to see, experience, and enjoy. Just remember that the convention schedule still exists, even after a good meal and a little sightseeing.
Beyond the beauty of the city, this convention presents an important opportunity for fellowship, networking, learning, and reconnecting. Take time to greet familiar faces, welcome new members, introduce yourself to someone you have not met, and build relationships that may continue long after the convention ends. Some of the most valuable conversations may happen outside of the formal sessions—over breakfast, in the hallway, while waiting for the elevator, or during one of those moments when everyone is trying to remember which meeting room they are supposed to be in.
Let us approach every gathering with love, patience, respect, and a spirit of unity. Conventions bring together members from different cities, states, chapters, councils, courts, and departments, and that diversity gives us a wonderful opportunity to learn from one another. We may not always do things the same way, but we can listen, share, and grow together.
Most importantly, come with an open mind and a willingness to receive new information. Bring your notebook, take plenty of notes, ask meaningful questions, and participate in the discussions. Be ready to learn new procedures, new ideas, and new ways to strengthen the work we do. You may return home with more paperwork than you expected, but hopefully you will also return with renewed motivation, fresh knowledge, and a clearer vision.
The information gained at convention should not remain tucked away in a folder, buried in an email, or placed in a bag never to be opened again. Be prepared to take what you learn back to your local chapters, councils, courts, departments, and memberships. Share the information, encourage others, and help put the knowledge into action.
Let us use this time not only to conduct business, but also to strengthen our bonds, celebrate our accomplishments, honor our traditions, and prepare for the work ahead. Let us laugh together, learn together, fellowship together, and create memories that will last long after the final session has ended.
Travel safely, pack wisely, remain prayerful, and bring your best spirit with you. May every journey be protected, every meeting be productive, every conversation be meaningful, and every moment of fellowship be filled with love.
