The National Supreme Council and the National Grand Chapter join the global community in recognizing Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month throughout November. This is a time to stand with the courageous patients, survivors, and families affected by this devastating disease and to champion the urgent need for research and early detection.
The Fierce Fight for Life
Pancreatic cancer is one of the most challenging cancers to treat, often referred to as the "silent killer" because of its typically late-stage diagnosis. We must confront this reality with an equally fierce commitment to awareness and action.
- Know the Symptoms and Risks: Education is our best defense. Learning the subtle signs and understanding who is at high risk can lead to earlier diagnosis, which dramatically increases survival rates.
- Hope Through Research: We support the organizations fighting tirelessly to double survival rates and develop an early detection method for this cancer. Every day of awareness and every dollar of funding brings us closer to a cure.
How We Can Show Our Support and Service
In the spirit of benevolence and community, we call upon all National Supreme Council and National Grand Chapter members to embody the courage of those fighting pancreatic cancer:
- Go Purple for a Purpose: Purple is the color of pancreatic cancer awareness. We encourage all members to wear purple on World Pancreatic Cancer Day (the third Thursday of November) and throughout the month to visibly show your support.
- Support Patient Services: We encourage supporting organizations like the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) and Project Purple, which provide vital patient support, resources, and one-on-one services to those battling the disease.
- Mobilize for Walk/Runs: Participate in or volunteer at local events like PurpleStride walks to raise awareness and critical funds for research and patient aid.
- Assist with Patient Needs: Consider donating or coordinating efforts to support organizations, including the Kim T. Chapman Cancer Patient Transportation Fund (if applicable), that address the practical needs of patients, such as transportation to treatment.
Let us stand together this November to make pancreatic cancer a national priority and bring hope to all who are touched by it.
In Service and Solidarity,
The National Supreme Council and The National Grand Chapter
